For a long time, nobody ever thought that the town of Khorixas, could produce such good music gems. People only knew this town for its richness in artistic rocks that are found in the Twyfelfontein valley. However, today Khorixas is polishing some of the best upcoming hip-hop artists.
When you visit this small town on the southern side of Kunene, you will be surprised at the great number of music gems that are venturing into the competitive music industry. These young musicians are making it big through their unique and well arranged songs. To show the rate at which music industry in this town is growing is the hip-hop music-recoding label in the northwestern region of the town. Procyone Recordz – a two year old music studio – is just about to launch its first album called Procyone. This shows how music is becoming part of the town’s culture.

Khorixas is home to about 6, 000 inhabitants. It is located in the southern side of Kunene region in Namibia. Prior to the country’s independence, Khorixas used to be the capital city of Damaraland Bantustan. Precisely, this small town is situated in a small constituency called Khorixas. Most people who reside hear are originally from Damara. Therefore, the Darama tribe is the one that dominates in this area. Close to the town is the Petrified Forest on one side and the popular Twyfelfontein valley. This valley is famous for its well-arranged rocks.
